CURRENT & UPCOMING EVENTS:

For more than a century, Bremen has quietly enjoyed an enviable reputation of having picturesque tree-lined, brick streets. Situated in a valley surrounded by rolling hills at the confluence of two creeks (Big and Little Rush Creeks), Bremen is enhanced by the canopy of beautiful trees that shade its historic streets.

This month in The Village Voice: News & Notes from Village Administrator Doug Hockman:

We welcome Josh Groce and his leadership as our mayor; Carl Graham and Tad Moyer as new Council Members; and our returning Council Members, Toni Harper, Valerie Rogers, Troy Tripp, and Debbie Wolfe. Our Clerk-Treasurer continues to be Kelley Tripp.

To my friends near Mulberry and Walnut, the weather just became too cold and has remained too wet to relay the bricks in the intersection. We have secured the dug areas with compaction gravel until the weather is dry and warm enough. We will then dig the areas up and replace the bricks.

To my friends on Purvis Ave., this will be your year of dealing with street construction. The Village will be laying almost 2,000 linear feet of pipe to connect into the new Storm Sewer Trunk Line. This large connector line will be going up the east half of Purvis from Marietta to Collins. I will try my best to keep you informed as to timelines and the actual work being performed. Since this will be on the side of the street that you park on, it will be imperative that all residents on Purvis use the alley behind their homes to park their cars getting to and from their homes. This will be several months from now but I want you to know now.

There is a grant request in which asks for funding to finish the curbs and gutters on Fort St. The request is for $225,000 from which we pledged in-kind labor and cash totaling $61,000. So, the actual grant monies will be in the ballpark of $164,000. We will know the status of this grant request by the end of February. Should we be fortunate enough and awarded this grant, then the whole spring, summer and fall workforce will be committed to streets since both Purvis and Fort have brick surfaces. This includes everyone who works on water, waste water, and streets. Not many other projects will be on the work order for 2012.
